Bridge over Troubled Waters

hello all!

Maybe all my subject lines will have to do with Simon and Garfunkel songs. Let's just hope next week´s isn't "Homeward Bound." Unless we have a baptism and I'm talking about how our new convert is homeward bound to his heavenly home. Actually that would be great, let's pray for that.

The work is so good here and I am still loving every minute.

Sometimes to get to our lunches with the members we have to cross this huge bridge. I'll take a picture of it sometime. You take an elevator up one side, walk across this huge glass enclosure, and take an elevator back down to the bottom of the other side. It's easy, simple, and pretty. Usually

The other sisters were with us and the four of us got into the elevator like usual. It let us out and we went to the bathroom. The water wasn't running so we left to find other ones. The part with the elevator and bathrooms is about a half floor below where the bridge part is. We walk up the stairs to find that we were not where we thought we were. The inside of the bridge is really nice with pretty floors, and couches, and information about the area, and sculptures and stuff. Where we were was super unfinished with concrete floors, bags of sand laying around, and a huge puddle in the middle. We were definitely on the right floor, because there was this huge wall and on the other side was the regular bridge. We went back to take the elevator, but is was just a metal wall with no buttons to press, no way to summon the thing. There were four exit doors and they were all locked.

We shouted over to the people on the other side to send help. These people were not every good at sending help. After probably 20 minutes this kid about 11 years old hopped over. He went over to the doors and started trying to kick them down. It was hilarious, but made no difference besides the fact now there were 5 stuck people.

After over a half hour, some guy finally rescued us by unlocking one of the exit doors. He said the elevator is programmed not to open on this floor and that it was really weird that this happened.

Nothing else really happened here besides lots of lessons and contacts. Can't really ask for more!

A line of scripture I really liked this week can be found in Alma 37:47 `look to God and live`. It's
simple advice but it's great advice. It makes me think of the greatest commandment, love God. Let´s just love God, look to Him, and live.

love you all! Sister Gruwell
